PURPOSE:
To recognize an individual nominated by DCMS alumni who has made a positive contribution towards the community and participated in philanthropic and charitable activities.
CRITERIA:
Criteria for selection shall be based upon humanitarian service and contributions to society over the span of an individual’s career. Humanitarian service is defined as actions, beyond the responsibilities of one’s profession or occupation, that have helped to improve the welfare of humankind. Examples include but are not limited to: charitable work, medical missions, free clinics, philanthropy, education, and service to the disabled, underprivileged, senior citizens or youth. Such services should have been provided pro bono. The services may be rendered here in the US or abroad.
ELIGIBILITY:
The individual must be nominated by DCMS alumni. Nominations MUST be accompanied by a minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation from DCMS alumni who support the nomination along with any additional supporting documents.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS for 2018 AWARD IS MARCH 31st.
SELECTION:
Deccan Alumni Association of North America BOD will review all applications and select the awardee based on the criteria described above.
RECOGNITION:
The recipient of DAANA Humanitarian Award will be honored at the Alumni Association Gala Dinner and Reception held every two years, starting in July 2018. The honored individual will receive a plaque and be recognized on our website and other related publications.
